First Christian Church has called the William H. Moore to serve as its pastor. He will begin his ministry on April 1, 2017. The congregation was unanimous in its invitation. Bill will lead a “Community of Companion on the journey of faith.”

A Bio on Bill

Bill grew up in the Congo, Africa, as the son of American Baptist missionaries.
He returned to the U.S. for college, graduating from California State University – Chico.
After serving as a short-term missionary in the Congo for two years, Bill 
 returned to the U.S. and went to Americus, Georgia, to work with  
Habitat for Humanity where he met and married Amy, who was the daughter of Presbyterian missionaries in South Korea.
Bill and Amy continued their journey together when they were asked 
to serve as short-term missionaries in Haiti with the American Baptist 
Churches, working with the Haitian Baptist Convention for two and a half years.
Upon returning to the States, in 1990 Bill and Amy settled in Lynchburg, Virginia,
where their two daughters, Rachel and Naomi, were born. They got involved at First
Christian Church, Lynchburg, and joined in 1994.
 He begins his ministry at First Christian Church, Black Mountain in April 2017.
